Excellent Unit For Non-Sine Loads

"This unit is currently running the fluorescent lights and several small appliances at our cottage. It works great; the LED display is a nice way to keep track of your battery usage. The only thing I'd like changed would be a sturdier case - the plastic end caps seem brittle and easy to break, especially if you were to use this unit in a car or truck. Also the electrical connectors should be inset a little more so there's less chance of them shorting against something. On sale for $90 there's no competition for this unit."

"Picked up this 1500W unit after debating about it after reading the reviews on the larger 3000W model. As this was on sale I made the choice to give it a try and hope that it would work out. Well I figured since it would be a couple months before I would use it I should make sure everything's good... well it's not.

First thing start small and try a lamp, that worked... and the fan worked....but anything that was over a 500W didn't work at all. The "power out" had a 00.0 reading, the alarm didn't sound, and the fans didn't come on as stated in the manual.

So this unit is a big fail... might just give another one a try and see if it's going to work, but I have noticed a lack of quality over the past years with motomaster products."

"Runs my 1/2 HP Mastercraft sump pump with no issue. Low voltage warning beep tells you when the battery is about to give up. Has survived a number of years out in my unheated garage."

Good deal on sale

"Even better deal when you buy the motomaster eliminator inverter ( same product number) as they are buying them and slapping their brand on them. What makes it a good deal is the Xantrex inverter only has 90 day warranty where motomaster has 2 year."

Excellent power

"I use a 700 watt microwave with this inverter. It has no trouble supplying constant power with a full dinner plate in the oven. I even leave it powered on as it is buried in my storage box in the truck. (I run the engine to supply full 150 amps power when I use the inverter) It doesn't effect the starting batteries in the least, even with the truck shut off for 2 days. With 1 gauge wire and studs, the power wire does not get hot when nuking for 5 minutes on full power. The unit doesnt even feel warm also."

Good, but not as powerful as it says

"If you need lots of power you most buy a larger one. Don't be deceived by the peak power rating on the box.......in the fine print you'll see the real ratings are less. For example the 300W one has the peak power of 300 but the continuous power output is around 200 Watts.
Example: The 300W one can not supply my laptop for charge+use. I can only charge the laptop with it or take the laptop battery out and use the laptop (or use it when the battery is fully charged).
It has a good protection circuit that won't let you burn your inverter!"

"I have used this inverter only on occasion for just 8 months and it is already making loud humming noises and vibrating after being on for a few minutes. Im glas I bought this on sale and didnt pay full price because the quality is the pitts."

Fantastic value for the buck!

"This 1000 Watt power inverter is capable of sustaining 1200 Watts, only getting slightly warm even after 10 minutes of load.

I have used this inverter at work for almost two years, and have never been let down. The built in protection system will shut the inverter down if 1, the input voltage drops too low, or 2, the input current in amperes rises above 119 Amperes (as measured on mine). That allows a peak output if needed of just over 1400 Watts. This of course is only for PEAK loads.

One other review above, mentioned that their inverter would not run their 700 watt microwave. I suspect their input cables were too thin. Mine ran fine for 10 minutes continuous. When this inverter is requesting 120 amperes under surge conditions, a HEAVY cable and strong 12 volt DC source is mandatory. That kind of amperage will not make it through a smaller wire without a large voltage loss. Using thin input cables, or cables that are too long (voltage drop) will render the inverter useless under heavy loads.

Pros: this unit is relatively small and light weight for it's ouput capacity. This is great!

Cons: I always wished their was a low voltage warning beeper "shut-off" for these things (for when the battery voltage drops too low). But for the price, I can't complain.

What a handy tool to have!"

Does this inverter have protection against accidental reversal of power input: ie poles of battery conection reversed.

Answer:

If battery connection is reversed, the fuse of 011-1871 inverter will be blown and the unit is probable to damage, since it is no protection for reversal of power input.

Answer:

Yes electric motors run fine on that inverter, just remember with any device You intend to use just make sure the wattage of that device doesn't use more than the 400watts. For continual use I would choose a inverter that was twice the wattage of the device I was using.

Answer:

I would only use a pure sign wave inverter with any electronics. The pure sign is closest to grid power stays within the + or - 60hz. A modified inverter will over heat the power suppy in most electronics manufactured today!

Answer:

If the battery in your boat has a 12V output, the inverter can power electronics. The inverter is capable of running when the unit connected to the battery power is 12V output. Please note that some appliances are not compatible with the inverter due to modified sine wave output, so some may not work well.

what is the working ability a 1500 converter

Question:

I have a 1500 converter that was hooked up to a toaster that was rated at 700 watts. It did not work and I want to know why if the converter is rated at 1500 watts. Did I get duped?

Answer:

These inverters are modified inverters, if the toaster is electronically controlled, that is more than likely why it didn't work. I have been using inverters for about 20 years now and prefer the pure sign wave type. The modified inverters run at about 54-56 Hz especially under a load like a motor or toaster. A pure sign wave inverter stays at 60Hz + or- 1 Hz and is also 30% more efficient. I had a older Trace(now Zantrex) DR( modified inverter) and burned out allot of electronic devices because of it's cheap way of producing AC Power!

Answer:

Most toasters will operate on the 1500W inverter, though it is most likely that the toaster draws much more than 700W. The rule of thumb is that any appliance that generates heat (toasters, microwave ovens, hair dryers, etc) are closer to 1500W.

You can try some other loads to determine if the inverter is functioning correctly or not. Also, you should check the battery cable connections to ensure that there are no losses coming from poor connections.
