know its limitations

"The 3000 watt unit will drive my 15 amp skill saw. It will not drive my 7.6 amp Milwaukee portable band saw... probably because it is variable speed. The 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter will drive the Milwaukee. In both cases the car engine has to be running and the #2 short cables bolted to battery and inverter. If this is suitable for you, then these are two good products"

Works for my RV microwave

"After seeing the negative reviews of this inverter I was skeptical about it, but felt the need to post my POSITIVE review after buying and trying it.
So far my testing was to boil a cup of water in my 1000 watt RV microwave, which worked fine.
People, you need to realize that 3,000 watts at 12Volts draws a LOT OF CURRENT, and the only way you will get close to it is to have VERY BIG, heavy duty batterys and VERY BIG cables. 3,000 watts is 250 AMPS at 12 volts.
The inverter actually has TWO pairs of connectors, which is a hint that you will need TWO batteries in order to provide that much power.
In my test, I used a small 70 Amp hour Deep Cycle battery, using normal battery cables. The voltage dropped fro 13.2 to 11.9 while boiling the water. This is ok for my use, but bigger cables and battery would be in order for full 3000 watts."

"I bought this inverter it lasted 1 month before stopping. It could even power a small 800 watt microwave. A BIG WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY... Dont BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"bought one years ago and find it to be the best auto accessory I have...spend the money for 0/0 welding cable for your battery hook ups and you'll never look back...the bigger the battery bank, the better it works of course....I use 1 or 2 farm tractor batteries , isolate them when running the inverter, and charge them while driving"

"worst product ever why is the 1000 watt able to do 1000 watts continous but the 3000 watt cant it can only do 2500 yet peaks at 5000 watts i justbought it yesterday and i got the new version its slim lined with 3 ports digital and usb support now it looks cool but looks fool ya i had it on 2 6 volt golf cart batteries and a car charging the batteries u think it worked no heck no it cant run a 1500 watt heater without going in a mater of seconds to 10.5 volts or lower this is like a power hunger even running at 3000 rpms i couldnt then i tried on my other car that has a 140 amp alternator custom and yet it cant keep up with this unit like how can it drain the power away that fast its not a good item to get better off to buy a generator least its putting out the power, u need so stay away from this i going to return it today total bomb u need like 50 batteries i bet"

Don't buy this unit

"I bought this unit to assist with providing some current to our television, DVD, lighting etc. The Unit ran a fan for about 30 seconds and the alarm went off. The batteries (6) are new. The Unit couldn't start up anything without shutting down. It's no wonder half of the boxes in the store are previously open. The starting wattage barely gets to 1500 watts. Don't be fooled by the 3000 watts. It's 1500 an outlet with a total of 3000. You'll never get there. Unfortunately I have to keep it. You should seriously think about something different."

Not as good as promised

"Based on everyone else's review and the product literature, we purchased this 3000 watt unit. Unfortunately, it did not deliver. I have a 1500 Watt unit that runs my clothes washer. It will not run the 120 Volt, gas dryer so we purchased this 3000 Watt unit. It does not have enough umph to run the dryer either. so back it goes. btw, the dryer is a new, energy efficient, energy star-rated, top of the line Whirpool unit."

Good unit

"At the core of my solar/wind off grid home is the Motormaster Eliminator 3000W.
It has run everything I've thrown at it, even sound equipment, DVD players, computers, laptops and chargers!
Only issue I have is that the modified sine wave causes our furnace fan to be noisy! I've been looking of a pure sine inverter to run the furnace. There is a slight hum in my guitar amp and the portable TV. I'm told that a good quality power bar with surge protector will help clean up the hum with sensitive equipment. Hmmm, maybe try that on my furnace!"

"For a modified sine wave inverter, this is an excellent choice for the money. It will run most anything I throw at it, including my 2500w Yard Works leaf blower. Be prepaired to hunt for the 4/0awg cables, 400amp fuse, and battery disconect switch to use this inverter safely. It would be nice if Canadian Tire sold all the pieces needed to connect the inverter."

Answer:

To determine how much battery capacity you need:
1. Determine how many watts are consumed by each appliance that you
will operate from the XPower 3000. You can normally find the watt
rating labelled on the product. If only the current draw is given,
multiply it by 115 to get the power consumption in watts.
2. Estimate how many hours each appliance will be operating each day.
3. Calculate the daily watt-hours needed for each appliance.
4. Add the total number of watt-hours needed for all the appliances and
multiply it by the number of days between charges.
5. Divide the total watt-hours of AC load between charges by 10. This
gives the battery Ah used between charges.
6. Double the total Ah used between charges to get the recommended
battery size in Ah.

Inverter for Home back up?

Question:

I intended to use this inverter for backup light at my home, but the inverter will only work with eight 60w white light bulbs out of one outlet, with one deep cycle 600amp marine battery, what is wrong?

Answer:

The max. output power for one AC outlet is about 1650W , three AC outlets conbined output must be less than 2500W continuous. For the white light bulbs, its surge starting power is 3-5 times bigger than its rating power, so one outlet can only support eight 60W bubs . Can you please advise the amp/hour of your battery, and its voltage, these factor will affect the inverter working too. Thank you

The new 3000watt inverter has 3 120v outputs. It's still not clear to me what the maximum output amperage is at any one output.

Question:

Also does each 120V outlet have a separate circuit breaker. One person stated that it will run a jet pump. That's one of my main concerns.

Answer:

I have the previous model but expect it to put out 15A on each outlet. You will probably be limited to 23.5A overall. Realize that you need enough battery power to supply that. If it can't pull that much power you will get an alarm and eventually a shutdown. (not described in the docs). I believe that 6 x 6V golf cart batteries (in good condition) will work but you must also realize that the 230 Amp/hours is like an EPA rating - you can't use that figure to calculate actual usage results.

It runs my jet pump - and my bathroom fan. Usually my wife is making supper at that time. We never even think about it.

Looks like 3 reset buttons on the front there..

If you still have Qu.s call the tech support line - you may find yourself talking to Xantrex! Last time I talked to them, they made all of CT's "Eliminator" line. Actually call them - they will tell you.

Answer:

Under normal operation 21 amps is what the inverter can output, max is 26 amps for 5 min.
1 circuit can do 15 amps @ 120v. with 6 amps left. or all 3 circuits can use 7 amps each. remember that at max load you will draw 310Amps from the batteries so you will need a 1 guage wire or 2 - 4 guage wires from battery. At max output a 100Amp hour deep cycle battery will only last 2-3 hours depending on condition of battery.

why 2 battery inputs on 3000w inverter?

Question:

Have a 3000w inverter hooked to a 4d battery, but only on one side of the 2 possible hook-ups. Is there any reason the inverter wont work to its full potential with only one side hooked up?

Answer:

The inverter will work with only one side hooked up. I use mine like that sometimes on lighter loads. These two sides are internally paralleled. But as another poster mentions, the unit will draw over 300 amps if used at full power. That is a lot of current! One would hook 2 sets of 2 or 4 gauge wires from the battery bank; one to each side of the inverter input, to handle the massive input current without losing any power to wire and connector resistance.
