Better than expected

"Bought these to keep the 2 grandkids occupied while we were driving long distances on our last vacation. The players were very simple to set up, the cables just the right lenght (for an F150 crew cab) and the sound and picture quality was very good, even in bright sunlight the video was good. Used headphones for each set and they both watched their own movies so the kids just loved them. All in all, they seemed to be very good and priced competively with other brands."

Terrible Units!

"I bought these for my 2 children and though the concept is good - as they can never decide on only one movie to watch together - these units were terrible! The sound is very low and the picture brightness is totally inadequate. I returned twice - once to get new units as I thought ours were defective, however the second units proved the same. Though you may hear them well in the store, when out in your vehicle at highway speeds, they are no good at all - and yes, that's even with Bose earbuds. I would not recommed them at all."

Great for two little passengers

"Great units for two kids riding in the back seat. They can play the same video on both units or run independently of one and other. A nice feature for opinionated children. All the necessary attachments needed to run in the car are provided and were long enough for the SUV we drive.
The units seem to made of fairly inexpensive and thin casing materials, but have been running for a year now without any issues and fairly regular use. They are not going to impress any A/V enthusiasts, but have been great for playing Thomas the Tank Engine on car rides up to the cottage."

good but some minor issues

"This product is great. The 2 DVD players are compact and allow 2 movies to be played at once to entertain younger and older viewers with age appropriate movies. The picture is also very good and the AV-audio inputs allow the unit to be pluged into TVs at home. Of course, there are drawbacks to this product which are:

- all cords are too short! The cords (power and video/audio) are made for a car, but I have a van, therefore, the cord are just long enough or too short to place the unit on the back rests. We had to restart videos many time because of tight wire being pulled out.
- the units have each their own remote control, but volume is not on the remote. Instead, they put a volume wheel on the side of the unit which is almost invisible and hard to find.
- the volume on one of the units is lower than the other (one must be a lemon unit)

Bottom line: good system but RCA went cheap on the volume and cords."

Are these divx compatable?

Also are they burn dvd compatable, and are they able to take a/v cables into them so that I can watch things from my iPod (yes I have the right cables)

Answer:

The Venturer mobile player does not come with battery. It is a mobile unit and needs to be connected to a power source.

No you can't use them on a plane, there is no battery back-up.

yes, they can be used on a plane because they don't transmit a signal. just wait for the captain to let you know when it's safe to use electronics.

the picture shows that the product is from RCA, but the written description says Venturer....

are they just screens that you hook a dvd player to or do they come ready to use out of the box with everything you need to play a movie included?

It's two seperate DVD players (that can play the same movie if desired). They run off the same power source and eveything you need comes with them in the box.
