Cools a single room well

"Just purchased this unit to deal with the heat/humidity we had here over the weekend, and I have to say I'm pretty happy with this unit. It keeps the room its in pretty cool as long as the room is not too large, but it suffers a bit in that it is a single hose unit that has the effect of sucking in warm outside air elsewhere in the home.

A note to all those who are having trouble draining this unit, use the other plug, there is another plug midway up on the left side of the back of the unit that you can easily position a bucket under for draining. I believe the hose on the right side of the back of the unit is only for use with a floor drain."

"Very satisfied with the performance and quality of this product. The only improvement would be the option of a water removal tray instead of just a drain hose which requires a floor drain. Not so practical. Fortunately, I use the unit on the second floor, so I must roll the air conditioning unit to the edge of the stairs and drain the water in a bucket."

Very limited options

"I tried this AC unit for my in-laws apartment. The quality of the unit seemed decent enough although I didn't get a chance to use it for an extended time. The worst part of this AC is that it did not have a removable bucket to empty the accumulated water from the unit. So, when it came time to empty it, you would either have to wheel it over to the laundry drain or try to drain it into a shallow pan. If you didn't have a laundry drain, you would have to lift the unit onto the edge of your bathtub or shower stall to drain it. I didn't think that these were viable options. This unit might be okay if you have a drain close to where you will be using the AC. However, most applications are for the bedroom which don't typically have a drain nearby. I ended up returning this unit and getting the Noma AC which had both a drain hose and a removable bucket option."

CT should not sell this

"It's big and bulky. The Window kit it comes with is not your standard size. There is no literature or info on it anywhere except what you see here, at CT.

Most apartments and homes can't use this kind of window's kit, so it's is useless. I have seen people who have a similar setups and they leave their windows wide open while the A/C is working. This is like driving with your windows open and having your A/C on in your car. What a waste of money, that;s literally throwing your money out the window because the room will never cool down."

Auto restart on power failure

Does this unit automatically restart when the power fails and is restored?

Answer:

The unit automatically restarts with previous settings 3 minutes after power is restored. The 3 minutes delay is to keep the unit from blowing a fuse or tripping a circuit breaker.

Can I just plug this into an outlet and turn it on or does it need to go into a window? Do any parts go outside (like tubes, etc.)?

Answer:

The unit has to go into a window so that hot air inside can be exhausted outside. A flexible exhaust hose and necessary parts are sold together with the unit. Please kindly find the installation instruction in manual.

Answer:

It depends on the humidity in the air. Normally, the air conditioner will spray the water on the condenser, which will evaporate outside the room. During humid weather, the unit will indicate that it needs draining. Some customers have reported that this takes approximately 15 hours; some experience more frequent draining times.

Depends on the amount of humidity in the air, but I haven't had a problem draining it twice a day.

Does this unit need an exhaust to a window to exhaust out hot air??

Answer:

Yes. It comes with a exhaust hose (looks like your typical clothes dryer hose) that you connect to the window to vent hot air.
Mind you this is not a dual hose unit.

Answer:

In air conditioning mode, you do need to exhaust the hot air to outside of the room you are trying to cool down. Otherwise, you are just pumping the hot air into the room you are trying to cool. The unit comes with a window kit so that you can easily position the exhaust vent to the window as well as cover up the rest of the gap of the open window.
