"Acceptable price. Biggest problem is the wheels stick out too far. The blade can not cut close enough to the edge which means trimming is required every time. For a small townhouse front and back yard the size and power is very acceptable."

not the best product

"i just bought one of this mower a few weeks ago, were on sale for 129.99, tyhe set up was a breeze, but the darn thing would not start, i called the number on the instruction manual, i spoke with a lady, who advised me to return it to canadian tire, i have yet to re pack it and return it, hope i will be able to exchange it for a jobmate."

"I have purchased this Lawnmower around May 2010, Great $ value small as I have a small yard and I wanted somthing to be able to carry and take in/and out of the house as I live in a townhouse. light weight, it does a go job."

"This is a great lawn mower. It does the job on my small yard and doesn't give me any headaches. The price isn't too bad and maintenance has been but only the essential items.

I would recommend if you need a new lawn mower for small yards. Although I'm sure it could do larger yards if you needed it to."

"I bought this mower on sale last month when I was in desperate need of something to get the grass down. I had intended on getting a nice reel mower, but was in a bind and needed something to get the grass down quickly. I had seen all the positive reviews posted online, and so for only $90 on sale I gave it a shot.

I've used this many times and it's a fantastic little mower. Handles my medium sized suburb lot with ease. A trimmer is a must as it can't quite get too close to some edges. This is my first electric mower and it is a pain with the cord, but for such a great price, you can't go wrong. Get it on sale and you won't be disappointed. I can get 5 of these for what my neighbor just paid for his Black and Decker cordless electric mower."

Yardworks 8A / 14-in 2-in-1 Electric Lawnmower

"I bought this mower 2 yrs ago to mow in my dog run and trim around small areas where the riding mower would not go. It was perfect! It is easy to adjust the height and it mows and mulches well at all heights, including old long dead grass and leaves.
I took it to my new campsite, which is very uneven and has lots of large and small trees. The narrow deck was excellent on the uneven ground and perfect for getting between the larger trees. Any saplings smaller than my little fingers got mowed down easily with this mower.
I am getting a second one as they are on sale this week. Then I won't have to haul one between home and campsite. Great mower for small areas, and exceptionally quiet, easy, lightweight, and small to store. As for extension cords, bright yellow 50 ft cords work great and are very easy to see."

Good mower for the price!

"I have had this mower for 2 years and haven't had any problems. I would certainly suggest this mower, as long as your grass isn't really thick/heavy. The bag doesn't catch a lot of grass if it a little damp - the grass has to be 100% dry. Glad I bought it on sale."

OK if you don't really need the bag

"I mowed my 10 feet x 10 feet lawn which was about a 10 inches long. The good thing is that it actually was able to cut such long grass.

The bad is that the bag got clogged in the begining itself; the blade does not have enough power to push long clippings down the bag. 90% of the clippings were left on the lawn.

Might work better if I mow every 2 weeks. We'll see."

Just OK - underpowered, bag kind of useless

"I have a small yard and picked this up to replace a gas mower I was having problems with. I've actually thought about resurrecting the gas mower, because the electric one is frustrating in a couple of different ways.

First off, if you haven't owned an electric mower before and you really want one, I'd seriously suggest looking at a cordless model. Being tethered to a cord is irritating, especially in a small yard where you're constantly changing direction.

As well, unless I cut the lawn at the highest possible height (which kind of defeats the purpose) the grass chute gets very easily clogged, making the bag kind of useless. I often mow half my lawn and instead of the clippings going into the bag, they just get ejected under the mower.

As far as the cutting goes, this mower does an adequate job, but I find that the cutting is uneven. The price is right and the small size and weight is nice, but for a small yard I might have been better off with a reel mower than this one."

"I would let people know that this lawnmower is simple, lightweight and not much power.
At 8amps its not much power, but the job will get done. SO keep this in mind before you buy it.
If you want simple, basic and lightweight you buy.
If you want something with more power do not buy this one."

noise compared to gas mower

Answer:

This 14" 8A Mower produces 91 dBA at 3ft for noise level. A traditional gas mower rates at approx. 98 dBA at 3ft. This of course will have different levels of harmonic pitch or frequency depending on proximity to walls for resonance and enclosure, open area of where the mower is in use, to help off-set reverb effect. You will find electric mowers (corded or cordless) to be more quiet than traditional gas units and very stable with their sound levels. However with the use of all power equipment the use of hearing protection is advised.

Answer:

This 8 amp (approx 1,000 watts) motor has rpm s of about 3600. This rotation speed will not produce harsh noise-more like a large sewing machine. If the engine comes under stress of high grass the noise will be somewhat higher. This mower will be much quieter than many if not all gas mowers. I own two 2009 models. Guys take note: Women will love these machines.

Answer:

The 2010 model was given a small number of design changes. The handle tubing changed from a black painted on finish to a chrome finish, while the engine now sports a small chrome grill. The grass catcher that was included with the 2009 models must now be purchased separately
(60-1716) for $16.99. Some stores still carry the older versions-phone to find out. Even without the accessory this product is still a good value.

As the City of Toronto doesn't accept grass clippings in garbage, how good is this mower at mulching without the bag attachment? Any special blades?

Answer:

I found this mower excellent for mulching on new green grass and old long dried up grass and leaves. It is very simple to rake up afterwards if need be, but usually not necessary.

Answer:

It mulches fairly decent. The blade with it is designed for mulching so you will see ok results. Best to try and see how it functions for you. If not than go back to rear bagging and mulch your clippings in a compost. It does well overall.

Does this item have a rechargeable battery as some of the consumer reviews say? I thought it was electric, with a cord.

Canadian Tire isn't removing the conflicting reviews, so I am confused.

Answer:

There is no battery on mine, just the electric cord with a safety switch. If you release the handle, it stops instantly. The handles are very ergodynamic. It is the easiet mower I have ever used. On sale now for $90, so what could be better!
