Why this is important

In addition to an oil change, other preventive maintenance routines should be performed to prepare for each season.

We recommend upgrading your oil change service to a Seasonal Maintenance service at least twice a year*.

Understanding Engine Oil

Oil Change

Why this is important

Maintaining clean engine oil is critical for reducing wear on internal engine components. Canadian Tire offers a comprehensive range of oil and filters for passenger cars, minivans, SUVs, and light trucks.

	Draining engine oil and replenishing with your choice of manufacturer-approved oil.
	Installation of new warranty-approved oil filter.
	Lubrication of chassis, suspension and steering system (where applicable).

Transmission Fluid Maintenance

Why this is important

Transmission fluid eventually becomes contaminated with small particles created by the wear of moving parts and breakdown of chemical properties. Failure to change transmission fluid and filters may allow these particles to clog the small passageways and valves in your transmission, impeding performance and causing irreversible damage.

What's included

	Draining of vehicle's automatic transmission fluid and removal of varnish and metal contaminants.
	Installation of transmission fluid (synthetic or synthetic-blend upgrade available at an additional charge).
	Replacement of filter and pan gasket, where applicable.

Coolant System Flush and Fill

Why this is important

Coolant system failure is a leading cause of mechanical breakdown. It is also one of the most neglected systems on the vehicle, despite being one of the most simple to maintain. Rust, scale, sludge and air reduce its effectiveness and can cause premature failure of components. When properly maintained, coolant prevents freezing and boiling in your engine and improves heat transfers. It also lubricates the water pump and prolongs the life of other system components. A regular flush and fill maintains the proper pH level while preventing a harmful build-up of scale, corrosion and debris.

The thermostat regulates engine temperature. A faulty thermostat can result in low heat or overheating, poor fuel economy, a knock or ping sound when accelerating, and low temperature readings. It can even cause a vehicle to fail an emissions test.

Engine coolant not only cools your vehicle by transferring heat from the engine to the radiator - it also warms the vehicle by transferring heat to the passenger compartment. In addition, engine coolant lubricates the water pump and protects the cooling system from corrosion.

Air Conditioning Health Check

Why this is important

Inadequate cooling can be caused by refrigerant leaks, high temperatures, high pressure, or by system restrictions caused by dirt, corrosion, moisture and air. This service determines what is required to bring the A/C system up to intended operating performance. It also ensures the system's ability to control passenger compartment comfort.

What's included

	Visual inspection of all air conditioning components.
	Check of refrigerant pressure.
	Check on vent temperature.
	Performance of an electronic leak detection test.
	Written report and estimate of any work that may be required.

Did you know?

The most common cause of poor air conditioning performance is a low refrigerant level. Because refrigerant is a gas, it escapes easily through worn valve seals and o-rings as well as through deteriorated hoses and damaged components. A system running on low refrigerant will inevitably lead to major component failure. Repairing small leaks in advance could save on large, costly repairs in the future.
